5 Benefits of Migrating your Business to the Cloud

    By keith Mino | Security | 0 comment | 12 May, 2015 | 0

The Cloud provides significant benefits to SMB’s especially in competing with larger companies. Checkout our video to gain a basic understanding of what exactly the Cloud is.

Here are five reasons why migrating to the cloud will increase your competitiveness.

Reduced Capital Costs: Cloud service providers typically charge a monthly fee for the use of their facilities. The most popular example is Office 365 from Microsoft who provide a number of different categories of license at a monthly cost depending on the number of users. For a monthly fee you have the same access as the “big boys” to servers and software. No big upfront costs.

Pay as you go: Using cloud services allows you to pay as you expand. No longer do you have to put in expensive infrastructure in anticipation of growth. As your company expands you can increase your access to facilities almost instantaneously and pay for them as you go. This reduces your computing costs significantly.  On a monthly basis you only pay for what you use.

Business continuity: The cloud provider is responsible for providing security on the servers. As a result complicated disaster recovery plans are no longer required. Where servers are operated in-house these can be backed up to the cloud providing the security required. Experience has shown that recovery times have reduced significantly.

Remote Worksite/Collaboration: Provided users have access to the internet they can work from anywhere. In addition cloud computing allows all users to work on documents simultaneously regardless of their location. This increases collaboration and efficiency especially in regard to working on projects from different sites.

Reduced IT Costs: The use of the Cloud will increase productivity and reduce cost per unit. Automatic software updates and server maintenance by the Cloud provider saves on staff to monitor the process. Reduced travel costs as users can collaborate from remote sites. Reduced training costs as fewer people are required with less training needed on cloud based systems. Reduced IT staffing requirements and reduced power costs if the server is no longer based onsite.
