FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions answered.
SMB1001 is an Australian cybersecurity certification developed by CyberCert specifically for small and medium businesses. It provides a tiered framework (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond) that measures and verifies your organisation's cybersecurity maturity across key control areas.
SMB1001 has five levels: Bronze (foundational controls like MFA and patching), Silver (adds endpoint protection and backup verification), Gold (adds security training and incident response), Platinum (adds advanced threat detection), and Diamond (full security operations). Each level builds on the previous.
Timeline depends on your starting posture. Organisations with basic security in place can achieve Bronze in weeks. Gold certification typically takes two to four months with a structured implementation plan. We assess your current state and provide a realistic timeline during the discovery call.
Yes. Mino IT holds SMB1001 Gold Certification. We don't just advise on the framework — we live it. Our own security practices are certified, which means we apply the same rigour to our clients' environments that we apply to our own.
They are complementary. Essential 8 is the Australian Signals Directorate's mitigation strategy framework. SMB1001 is a certification that includes Essential 8 controls alongside governance, awareness, and operational requirements. We align clients to both — Essential 8 for technical controls and SMB1001 for verifiable certification.
